senior formulation scientist role
Applications are invited for the permanent opportunity of Senior Formulation Scientist within Synectix. Reporting to the Head of Operations, the successful candidate will play an active role in the formulation development of oral and parenteral dosage forms for preclinical testing, as well as for Phase I and II clinical trial material.
Responsibilities of Senior Formulation Scientist Role:
- Execute technical work as appropriate to relevant projects using standard procedures and non-standard procedures of some complexity.
- Develop new techniques with a view to transferring techniques to others.
- Be capable of performing the following as applicable to project work: interpret analytical and bioanalytical results, provide trouble-shooting input on a formulation level and a processing level, participate in the training of inexperienced personnel, develop and evaluate systems to optimise manufacturing processes.
- Plan formulation development / optimisation programmes for approval by Senior management, participate actively in relevant project team meetings, play an active role in the training of inexperienced personnel in theoretical and practical aspects of standard and non-standard procedures / approaches, acquire/develop new formulation/processing approaches in line with project requirements.
- Prepare timely and accurate reports on work performed and outlining plans for future work.
- Authority to review and sign off both paperwork and report documentation. Demonstrate ongoing familiarity with literature and incorporate observations/information into formulation programmes.
- Utilise data from literature surveys on a regular basis to support experimental / developmental work.
- Demonstrate initiative in idea generation, experimental design, and understanding of literature and interpretation of results. Develop experimental ideas; design SOPs and write reports with minimal consultation.
- Work as a team member and to actively participate in achieving the aims and goals of the project team.
- Communicate issues, data and resolution ideas within R&D to permit objectives to be met and to confirm solutions to problems with Senior Management. Highlight critical issues promptly.
Knowledge Required for Senior Formulation Scientist Role
- Primary degree in Pharmaceutical Science, Industrial Chemistry or other relevant discipline is required. A post-graduate qualification in a relevant area would be desirable
- Experience of working in an R&D environment in the Pharmaceutical Industry is essential.
- Experience in solid oral drug delivery systems would be highly desirable.
- 2 years experience in a similar role.
- Capable of working individually and also in a team structure.
- Proactive, innovative with good problem solving skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Proven track record in your current role is essential.
- Ability to interact readily with personnel across different departments.
